"How much for a website?" is one of the first questions we get from a business owner in Coimbatore, and it is also one of the hardest to answer honestly in a single number — because the honest answer depends on what the site actually has to do. What follows is the breakdown we would give in a conversation, not a price list.
The rough bands
Three shapes of project cover most of what small and mid-sized businesses ask for, and each has a genuinely different cost structure:
- A brochure / informational site — five to ten pages, a contact form, hosting and a domain. This is the cheapest category because there is no custom logic to build: content, design and a working contact channel.
- A business site with functionality — bookings, quote calculators, gated content, integrations with WhatsApp or email marketing tools. Cost climbs with every distinct piece of logic, not with page count.
- E-commerce or a web application — a product catalogue, cart, payment gateway, inventory, and usually an admin panel to manage all of it without a developer. This is priced closer to software than to a website, because that is what it is.
We are deliberately not putting rupee figures against these bands here. Any number without your actual requirements attached to it is a guess dressed up as a quote, and the "starting from ₹X" ads you see everywhere are almost always for the thinnest possible version of the brochure tier — before the inevitable "but that doesn't include…" conversation.
What actually moves the price
- Custom design vs. a template. A themed site is faster and cheaper to ship. A designed-from-scratch brand identity takes real design hours before a single line of code is written.
- How much content already exists. Copywriting, product photography and data entry are frequently the slowest part of a project, not the code — and they are often left out of a quote entirely.
- Integrations. Payment gateways, CRMs, booking systems and marketing tools each bring their own setup time, documentation to read and edge cases to handle.
- Who maintains it after launch. A site with no admin panel is cheaper to build and more expensive to change later, because every edit needs a developer. A CMS-backed site costs more upfront and less over its life.
- SEO and performance work done properly. A site that is fast, prerendered and structured for search is more work to build than one that "just looks fine in the browser" — and it is the difference between a site that gets found and one that only your existing customers ever see.
Questions worth asking any developer or agency quoting you
- Does the quote include content — copywriting, product photos, data entry — or only the build?
- Who owns the code and the domain once the project ends?
- Is hosting, an SSL certificate and a year of maintenance included, or billed separately?
- Can I edit the content myself afterwards, or does every change go back through the developer?
- Is the site actually indexable — real HTML for search engines, not just a fast-looking single page that Google struggles to read?
A cheap quote that leaves out content, hosting, or the ability to edit your own site later is rarely cheaper once you add those back in.
Where we can help
We build websites and web applications for businesses across Coimbatore, Udumalpet and beyond — from a five-page brochure site to a full e-commerce platform with its own admin panel. If you want an actual number rather than a range, the fastest way is to tell us what the site needs to do and we will quote against that, not against a guess.
